The Nari Kala Mandir Training Centre in Lucknow has been providing Tailoring and Allied Craft courses for one and two years, funded by the Directorate of Social Welfare, U.P. This year, the centre enrolled 51 students, following a successful examination period last year when 31 girls achieved a 100% pass rate.
The Project Unnati, initiated by Nari Sewa Samiti and supported by Bajaj Auto Ltd since 2015, focuses on empowering women through skill development for sustainable livelihoods. The third phase of this project began on October 10th and is set to run until September 30th, 2026, with a target to train over 1,000 women and girls annually. In the current year, 507 students have been trained in various trades, including Computer Training, Beauty Culture, Fashion Designing, and Hand Embroidery, with the introduction of Spoken English classes. Notably, 76 students have secured placements, while 250 candidates have become self-employed.
The enrollment statistics for the 2023-24 period indicate a strong performance in several trades, particularly in Computer Training and Beauty Culture, which exceeded their targets. The project has also seen significant enhancements, such as the acquisition of a computerized embroidery machine and renovations to the Computer Lab and Beauty Culture facilities. Additional support has been provided through personality development and soft skills classes, a certificate distribution program for 346 students, and the provision of sewing machines and beauty kits to deserving candidates. Placement partnerships have been established with various organizations to facilitate job opportunities for graduates in the Computer Trade.
