Annual Report: Nari Sewa Samiti Family Counseling Centres

The Nari Sewa Samiti operates three Family Counseling Centres in Lucknow, funded by the Central Social Welfare Board, aimed at supporting women's welfare and addressing family disputes. These centres provide a range of services, including counseling, legal assistance, police protection, and psychological support for issues such as domestic violence, dowry conflicts, and marital adjustments. They also offer referral services for short stay homes, free legal aid, and psychiatric treatment, ensuring confidentiality and free resolution of cases.

The Family Counseling Centre (Pre-Marital) reported significant activity in the year 2023-2024, managing 97 registered cases, with 65 closed and 46 settled through compromise. The centre also engaged in community outreach through mohalla meetings and various special activities, emphasizing its commitment to preventive, curative, and referral approaches to strengthen family life.

The Family Counseling Centre at Nari Bandi Niketan has been operational since 2000, focusing on the welfare of victims, particularly convicts. It provides extensive counseling, medical support, and cultural activities to improve the lives of those incarcerated and their families. In the same reporting period, the centre assisted 3,687 individuals and facilitated the early release of 50 convicts, highlighting its role in rehabilitation and support.

The Family Counseling Centre at Mahila Sahayata Prakostha addresses family disputes and domestic violence, with a focus on earnest settlement and follow-up. In 2023-2024, it registered 94 cases, with 128 settled, demonstrating its effectiveness in resolving marital issues and related conflicts. The centre also handled over 1,137 cases referred by the Women Helpline, showcasing its integral role in the community.

Overall, these centres collectively manage around 1,000 cases annually, reflecting their dedication to fostering healthier family dynamics and providing essential support services to women and families in need.
