Nari Shiksha Niketan PG College: A Year of Growth, Achievements, and Empowerment (2024–25)

Nari Shiksha Niketan Post Graduate College, a government-aided and NAAC-accredited institution affiliated with the University of Lucknow, continues to uphold its legacy of excellence in women’s education. The academic year 2024–25 was marked by innovation, academic progress, vibrant student activities, and significant institutional milestones.

Academic Overview

The college offers holistic education across Arts, Science, and Commerce, following the University of Lucknow curriculum.

  • Faculty of Arts: 14 subjects and M.A. in Hindi
  • Faculty of Science: 4 regular subjects
  • Self-financed courses: B.Com. and B.A. in Psychology

A total of 677 students were enrolled in 2024–25, comprising 602 undergraduate, 21 self-financed, and 75 postgraduate students.

Faculty Achievements

The year witnessed remarkable academic contributions from faculty members:

  • Research Recognition: Grants were awarded to Prof. Sunita Kumar, Prof. Aparna Sengar, Prof. Satya Mishra, and Dr. Neerja Shukla.
  • Publications: Numerous papers, articles, and book chapters were published nationally and internationally.
  • Awards & Honors: Dr. Neerja Shukla received the Nari Shakti Samman, Global Excellence Teaching Award, and Educational Icon of the Year. Prof. Sunita Kumar received the Alumna Award from IT College, and Ms. Kanchan Yadav received the Global Young Woman Scientist Award.
  • Innovations & Appointments: Dr. Neerja Shukla holds four patents. Prof. Satya Mishra’s book was adopted by the UP Government (76 copies purchased). Faculty members served as resource persons, BOS members, paper setters, and subject experts.

Leadership Transitions

The college bid farewell to Principal Prof. Sapna Verma and Prof. Manjari Khanna (Hindi) upon their retirement on June 30, 2024. Prof. Azra Bano assumed charge as the Officiating Principal. The college community also mourned the untimely demise of Mr. Shashi Kant, a dedicated staff member.

Student Engagement and Activities

Over 70 academic, cultural, and social initiatives were organized, encouraging holistic student development. Key highlights include:

  • Orientation Program (Aug 2024): Introduced new students to the college’s academic and cultural ethos.
  • Internships: Conducted for B.A. Sociology and B.Sc. Chemistry students.
  • Tablet Distribution: Under the Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, 36 PG students received tablets.
  • Mission Shakti Campaign: Awareness programs (Oct–Nov 2024) focused on women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment.
  • National Days & Events: Independence Day, Hindi Diwas, Wildlife Week, and Constitution Awareness programs celebrated with enthusiasm.
  • Founders Week (Nov 13–16, 2024): A vibrant tribute to Padma Shri Mona Chandrawati, featuring creative competitions and cultural performances.

NCC and NSS Highlights

  • NCC: Led by Major Dr. Razia Parveen, cadets participated in rallies, plays, cleanliness drives, and seminars promoting environmental and civic awareness.
  • NSS: Two units with 200 volunteers organized a seven-day special camp, tree plantation drives, health check-ups, and social awareness rallies.

Sports Achievements

Nine students proudly represented Lucknow University in inter-university tournaments across disciplines like Handball, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Athletics. The college also hosted an Indigenous Sports Competition during Founder’s Week.

Institutional Developments
